TOWSON, Md., August 29, 2024 – DEWALT, a leading brand under Stanley Black & Decker (NYSE: SWK), has announced the launch of new fastening tools as part of its XR® lineup, renowned for housing the brand’s top-performing 20V MAX* batteries and power tools. The latest additions include the 20V MAX* XR® 3/4 in. and 1/2 in. High Torque Impact Wrenches, as well as the 20V MAX* XR® 1/4 in. Quiet Hydraulic Impact Driver. These tools, alongside the existing 20V MAX* XR® 1/4 in. 3-Speed High Torque Impact Driver, represent DEWALT’s highest-rated torque solutions in their respective categories.
These new offerings are designed to cater to a wide range of user needs, from delivering maximum torque for heavy-duty applications to providing quiet operation in noise-sensitive environments.

For demanding tasks that require maximum power, DEWALT introduces its highest-rated max torque impact wrenches: the new 20V MAX XR® 3/4 in. High-Torque Impact Wrench (DCF964)* and *20V MAX XR® 1/2 in. High-Torque Impact Wrench (DCF961)**, offering expanded capabilities for tough jobsite applications.
Industry-Leading Torque for Maximum Productivity
The new DCF964 provides up to 102% more torque, making it the industry’s highest-rated max torque cordless 3/4 in. impact wrench. This increased power is designed to handle the most demanding applications, ensuring maximum productivity on the job.
For 1/2 in. fastening tasks, the DCF961 delivers up to 28% more torque when paired with the XR POWERSTACK™ Oil-Resistant 5 Ah Battery, making it the top-rated cordless 1/2 in. impact wrench in its class. These tools are engineered for heavy-duty performance, giving users the power they need to tackle even the toughest jobs.
Advanced Features for Durability and Precision
Both impact wrenches feature a durable glass-filled nylon housing that protects against oils and solvents, extending the tools’ lifespan. Additionally, they are equipped with PRECISION WRENCH™ mode to help prevent overtightening and fastener run-off. A four-mode push-button switch allows users to easily adjust speed and LED brightness, providing flexibility and control in various work conditions.

The new 20V MAX XR® 1/4 in. Quiet Hydraulic Impact Driver (DCF870)* is DEWALT’s quietest impact driver, engineered for noise-sensitive environments. It operates up to 57% quieter, making it ideal for framing, cabinetry, and other tasks in confined spaces. Despite its quiet operation, it delivers up to 40% faster driving, with consistent performance even in cold temperatures.
The DCF870 also includes nine built-in LEDs and a 20-minute work light mode, providing excellent illumination for dark workspaces, enhancing visibility and safety.
Expanding the XR® Fastening Portfolio
These new tools join DEWALT’s existing XR® lineup, including the 20V MAX XR® 1/4 in. 3-Speed High Torque Impact Driver (DCF860)* and the *20V MAX XR® 1/2 in. High Torque Impact Wrench (DCF961)**, expanding DEWALT’s growing XR® fastening portfolio.
The 20V MAX XR® 3/4 in. High-Torque Impact Wrench (DCF964)* and 20V MAX XR® 1/4 in. Quiet Hydraulic Impact Driver (DCF870)* will be available in early fall at authorized DEWALT retailers.
